4-H Scholarships



County Deadline: Friday, January 17
Attention all 4-Hers who are high school seniors, in North Carolina 4-H there are over 30 4-H college scholarships available for 4-Hers. Please look through the NC 4-H
scholarship guide to find which scholarships you are eligible for based upon your area of study and where you intend to study.  Scholarship applications are due to the Haywood County 4-H Office by January 17.  If you need a scholarship packet, please call the Extension Center at 456-3575.

Volunteer Leaders Conference



Friday, January 31 through Sunday, February 3
Registration due by Wednesday, January 15
The 2014 NC 4-H Volunteer Leaders' Conference will be January 31 through Sunday February 3 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Conference Center in Research Triangle Park.  This is an opportunity for volunteers across North Carolina to connect and participate in workshops and seminars designed especially for 4-H volunteers and agents to create positive learning experiences for young people across the state.  Annually, more than 350 conference participants gain skills and knowledge to help make the best better!  Pre-conference sessions will be offered on Friday, January 31.  These two-hour sessions provide opportunities for more intense topic investigation for focused learning.  Workshops will include everything from preparing healthy snacks, managing behavior, leather crafting, and electric project work - there's sure to be something for everyone!  Sunday morning wraps-up the conference with brunch and a great speaker. 

Christmas Community Service Date Change - Friday December 6

Deadline to Register: Wednesday, November 27
Friday, December 6 from 5:30pm to 8:30 at Extension Center
 We’ll have fun getting into the Christmas spirit by making and decorating Christmas cookies.  A portion of the baked cookies will be donated to Haywood Christian Ministries to be included in monthly food distribution boxes.  4-Hers will also be able to take some cookies home.  All 4-Hers are welcome to participate in this fun group community service starting at 5:30 to 8:30pm on Thursday December 5.  Afterwards we’ll have a classic Christmas movie and popcorn on the big screen. 

For dinner 4-H will provide lasagna.  Please bring a snack, salad, bread, or drinks to share.  Please call the Extension Center at 456-3575 to sign-up. We will only have cookie dough for youth participants that have registered.
