4-H Yoga for Kids & Stress Less on the Test

Haywood Extension 4-H and Waynesville Library Youth Services are partnering to provide Yoga For Kids.  The class is based on the Arkansas 4-H Yoga for Kids curriculum and will review basic yoga positions and methods to de-stress.  This four week training is open to all middle school age youth boys and girls.  Classes will be held on Wednesday, October 14, Wednesday, October 28, Friday, November 13 and Wednesday, November 18.  The classes are free.  Each youth needs to bring a water bottle and their favorite beach towel or yoga mat.  To sign-up please call the Extension Center at 456-3575.

4-H Etiquette Dinner at Bocelli’s Italian Eatery

4-H’ers will get a taste of Italian culture at the 5th Annual 4-H Etiquette Dinner.  4-H’ers, ages 5 to 18, will learn about formal Italian meals and dining etiquette for eating a tricky entrée – pasta! 
The experience is designed to give youth more confidence at formal dining situations.  The cost is $20 and 4-Hers need to dress business casual.  Prior registration and payment with the Extension Office is required to attend.  Each participant can chose from the four entrees below.  Please call the Extension Center at 456-3575 to sign-up by Friday, October 9.
Shrimp Scampi
Tender shrimp paired with our fresh garlic lemon butter sauce served over fettuccini noodles.  Shrimp, artichoke and sundried tomato pasta.

Chicken or Eggplant Parmigiano
Breaded and smothered in our signature marinara sauce then baked in mozzarella cheese and served with angel hair pasta.

Chicken Marsala
Tenderized chicken breast sautéed with button mushrooms and our signature marsala wine served over a bed of chef’s risotto.

Roasted Wild Mushroom Ravioli
Tender pasta pockets filled with portabello and crimini mushrooms sautéed with sundried tomatoes, fresh garlic and fresh mushrooms tossed in a gorgonzola cream sauce.  Topped with candied pecans.  One of Bocelli’s most popular dishes!

Veggie or Meat Lasagna
Veggie: Squash, artichokes, fresh spinach, zucchini, onions, peppers, mushrooms and fresh parmesan.
Meat: Layers of lean beef, herb seasoned ricotta and marinara along with minced mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and fresh parmesan
Topped with mozzarella and baked. 

Tour Greenhill Cemetery



Saturday, October 10 at 4pm
All 4-H families are welcome to come to an historic theatrical depiction of famous people buried in Greenhill Cemetery.  The tour will feature six characters including: the white chief of the American Indians, an actor from cinema’s Golden age, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, and the founder of Waynesville.  The Town of Waynesville Alderman and officials will play the roles of each of these historical characters.  The presentation is sponsored by the Town of Waynesville Historic Preservation Commission and the Town of Waynesville.    Tour will begin at 4pm, Saturday, October 10 at the Greenhill Cemetery gate.              

Spring Selection of 4-H Project Records



Looking to explore a new area of interest – project records are a great way to develop a new hobby or learn about a particular subject of interest.  If you are interested in completing a project record for 2016 go ahead and browse the selection of curriculum on the 4-H Mall at:
http://www.4-hmall.org/Category/educationresources.aspx.  Projects records start in January and are a 12 month record that youth record goals, story, and learning progression in a curriculum area.  These educational resources are also great for home schoolers exploring areas like: business, citizenship, science, technology, and professional development.  Each of the curriculum areas also have a designated appropriate age ranges for each of the project book with activities for youth to complete throughout the year.
