4-H Educational Field Trip— Lost Sea Caverns



Cost $20 per person
Thursday, June 29 from 8am to 5pm
Haywood Extension 4-H pick-up and Drop-off location
4-H’ers ages 5 to 18 are invited to participate in this fun day learning about regional caverns primitive life utilizing the caverns, cave formations, and natural wonders created inside a mountain.  $20 fee covers entrance into caverns.  4-H participants will need to pack a bag lunch and water bottle.  

4-H Educational Field Trip—Parkway Day



Cost: $10 per person
Monday, June 26 from 8:30am to 5pm
Haywood Extension 4-H pick-up and Drop-off location
Youth will get to explore WNC Nature Center, Pisgah Wildlife Center and tour DuPont Waterfalls.  The WNC Nature Center features many local animal species including: river otters, black bear, red and gray wolves and cougars.  The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education offers unique indoor and outdoor exhibits on North Carolina’s wildlife and mountain habits. Along the Parkway, Brevard features beautiful waterfalls like Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock.  $10 fee covers entrance into WNC Nature Center.  4-H participants will need to pack a bag lunch, water bottle, and sunscreen.  

District Activity Day



Saturday, June 17 from 10am to 3pm
Macon Middle School (1345 Wells Grove Rd Franklin, NC 28734)
Good luck to our eleven county winners from the Haywood County 4-H Activity Night that will be advancing to the district level presentation and    entertains competition!  4-H’ers competing at DAD have researched and prepared a  5 to 10 minute presentation in a variety of categories including: Bugs and Bees, Environmental Science, Electricity, Livestock and Dairy Cattle.  This year District Activity Day will be held in Macon County at the Macon Middle School from 10am to 3pm.  Lunches will be provided by Haywood County 4-H through lunch vouchers given to families upon arrival and will be offered on site at the school cafeteria.   First and second place winners from DAD will be invited to advance to the state-level competition held during State 4-H Congress.

4-H Aerospace STEM Workshops



Tuesdays, June 13, 20, and 27
Waynesville Library Youth Department
Youth ages 5 to 9 are invited to take part in this Science Technology             Engineering and Math (STEM) workshop series featuring Aerospace.  The Aerospace curriculum was developed by the Iowa State University Cooperative Extension 4-H.  In this series, youth participants will complete hands-on activities and learn about concepts of science, engineering, and technology.  The workshop is a partnership between Haywood County 4-H and Waynesville Youth Library services and will be held at the Waynesville Library Youth Department on Tuesdays: June 13, 20, and 27 at 10:30am until 11:30am.
