Haywood Cattleman's Association Annual Beef Roast

Only $10 for all you can eat Beef Roast, pinto beans, slaw, onions, and tomatoes, and for dessert ice-cream sandwiches! Come to Tuscola High School, Saturday, July 9 from 5 to 8pm.

To sweeten the deal funds will be used for youth programs and to help support local scholarships!

It's Electric Workshop - Rescheduled

Perfect for beginners this workshop offers hands-on learning and the opportunity to explore electric wiring and electric construction for youth ages 11-18. Workshop will be held at the Extension Center on Thursday, July 28 at 2pm to 3:30pm. Youth will solder a soil probe; which will help youth measure water level in their garden or house plants. Youth will learn about circuits, battery function, and lights. The cost is $5 which covers materials. Please call the Extension Center to sign up at 456-3575.

Haywood County 4-Hers Shine at District Activity Day

The number one fear of Americans is public speaking! Five very brave 4-Hers gave their first presentation at the district level, at District Activity Day, held in Cullowhee, NC on Thursday, June 23. Congratulations to these five 4-Hers who will be advancing to the state level! Christina Harvey placed gold for her, “How to Paint Your Fingernails” presentation. Holly Warren received gold for her demonstration on “How to Load a Muzzleloader.” Samuel Moore placed silver for his Australia presentation and Emily Hall received silver for “The Ground Ain’t So Bad.”
Samuel Moore and Rebecca Warren were chosen from the county talent show to competing in the District Entertains. State level talent showcase participants will be chosen later from pool of all district competitors.
State 4-H Vice-President, Sally Dixon, also represented Haywood County 4-H while assisting with the awards ceremony.
