West District Teen Retreat

Haywood County 4-Her’s will have a fun weekend at Camp Swannanoa in Asheville making new friends from across the district, earning 4-H  Ambassador credits, taking part in district officer elections, and participating in fun and informative workshops.  Deadline to register is Friday, March 2 call Extension Center at 456-3575 for more information. 

4-H Embryology School Enrichment

Haywood County 4-H is excited to offer 4-H School Enrichment Embryology curriculum to 2nd Grade classes in Haywood County during the Spring 2012 semester.  Two teacher training sessions will be offered: one before Spring break on Monday, March 12, and one session after Spring break on Monday, April 23.   The 4-H Embryology curriculum is free to teachers, counts as continuing education units, and was designed by North Carolina State University to match the 2nd Grade Life Sciences standard course of studyThe 4-H school enrichment programs are offered at no-cost to teachers.  If any 4-Hers or volunteers would like to help with the 2nd Grade Embryology teacher trainings please call the Extension Center at 456-3575.

AIRE Preparation Workshop


Thursday, March 8 from 3:30 to 5pm at Extension Center
Application, Interview, Resume & Essay (AIRE) is a 4-step process by which youth are chosen to attend National events such as National Congress, National Conference, and International Leadership Conference. AIRE is an opportunity for older youth to prepare for filling out college applications, making a resume, and having job interviews.  In fact AIRE is a great way to capture information like youth activities, leadership, and community service; which are the criteria for competitive scholarships like the Park Scholar.  Any youth ages 14-18 can participate.
