SEWING DAY CAMP

The dates are set and enrollment is NOW OPEN! Sign-up to be a part of the annual sewing day camp being held during the 3rd week of June.

During Sewing Day Camp, youth participating will learn the basics of sewing while making a number of interesting sewing projects. There will also be daily games and other fun activities along with sewing, but remember, the focus will be on learning to sew. In previous years, the youth have made various projects such as, backpacks and old-timey 4-H aprons. We look forward to making this another year of fun and educational experiences for all involved.

District Activity Day

District Activity Day(DAD) is right around the corner. The date is set for June 26. To participate in DAD you must do a presentation here at the county level first. The names of youth who have presented at the county and are going to the District will be submitted on June 13. You must present before this date to be registered to go to District Activity Day, but don't worry it's not too late.

All participants in DAD will receive a minimum of a 1/2 scholarship to go to NC 4-H Congress in July. If your presentation wins at the District level you get to present at the State level and you will receive a full scholarship to go to NC 4-H Congress. Check back soon for more information regarding NC 4-H Congress.

We encourage every 4-Her to do a presentation. To view the list of categories for presentations as well as more details visit the NC 4-H website. Learning to do presentations will help youth develop valuable life skills such as: expressing yourself clearly, learning how to gather information, organizing ideas, learning to speak in front of a group and developing a "I Can Do It" attitude. These are extremely important skills in todays world that are highly valued in our 4-H program.

We have all the resources to help you get started. Please call or email Nick or Dan at 828-456-3575 to get started on your presentation soon.
